Before becoming a TC, I was involved in the conception and launch of the Outdoor Adventure and Travel Expo. As the owner of this event, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to over 38 different countries over 30 years. My journeys included attending renowned Travel Expos in Berlin, London, and Durban (Indaba), further deepening my passion for travel and adventure. These experiences have been deeply rooted in my career and continue to influence my approach as a TC today. My 4 Favourite Destinations: 1. Bali – which I have been to many times and remains the top of my list. Bali is very spiritual, and beautiful, exotic and the people are kind and gentle. The island has that WOW factor and leaves one with many memories. Nature and Wildlife, Beaches, Markets, Traditional Villages, Surfing, Cuisine and more. 2. India – was my first ‘off the African Continent experience’. I loved the journey – the exotic aromas, beautiful jewellery, crafted items, carpets, hustle and bustle, the people. There is much to explore, including the exotic Taj |Mahal, Temples, Elephant Encounters, Tigers Tours, and much more – a new awakening of the soul. 3. Nepal – Kathmandu, Pokhara, flight over Mt Everest, Hot Air Ballooning left wonderful memories. Trekking is very popular with destinations such as Everest and Annapurna Base Camps and Cultural Festival Tours. 4. Morocco – recently visited and just loved Marrakech, the Medinas and Souks, Atlas Mountains, Merzouga and Sahara Desert and Chefchaouen – the Blue City. For three years I worked on and off in Stratford upon Avon and used the rest of the time to explore the history and diversity of the cultural life in Europe. Back in South Africa I married my best friend, one magical night under the bright stars of a Free State sky. Fortunately for me, he also loves the great beyond and shares my passion for travel. Oh yes and there was the polite declining to partake of a stew of bats in Seychelles, screeching like a kid on the sand dunes of Dubai, getting soaked in the rain in Auckland, crouching/crawling through underground tunnels in Vietnam, riding a rather smelly camel at the pyramids… …aah just some of the memories of travelling far and wide through USA, United Kingdom, Europe, Russia, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, South America, Indian and Ocean Islands among others. Oh and then there's Alaska – its on my bucket list – still working on it!Ooh and did I tell you that I've a huge crush on cruising!!! I experienced 1 January 2000 in Ireland, flew to Paris for a weekend to celebrate my 40th, back to Paris a couple of years later to attend a creative workshop and in December 2018 travelled to and through parts of the Czech Republic visiting family with my husband. I was fortunate enough to travel to France twice in 2022, and to visit Milan for the first time. It might just slowly be trumping Paris as my favourite European city. Later this year I'll be on a river cruise through Germany and the Netherlands and spending Christmas in Amsterdam - something that I last did (and loved) in 1992! Welcome! I was born into a family who loves travelling and was fortunate to have experienced our beautiful country’s icons and hidden gems. One of my first “international travel” memories was of watching my uncle’s slide show of their adventurous trip to South America. After school I became an au-pair and lived for 10 months in Germany. It was here that my love for travel was born and I fell in love with Europe. I then enrolled at the University of Pretoria and obtained a B.Com degree in Tourism Management. I recently completed a Diploma in Sales Management from Varsity College as well as a Programme in Advanced Marketing Management from UNISA Centre for Business Management. My career started in 2000: I started at a tour operator specialising in Spain and Portugal. I then moved on to a retail travel agency where I gained a lot of extensive experience. My interest and passion for the travel industry started in 1987 when I returned from a year’s backpacking in Europe.I attended Rapid Results and I completed my diploma in 1987 and I started work at Triumph Travel in Sea Point that same year.After 2 years I decided to travel once again and this time I worked and travelled in Europe and in the UK until the end of 1990.I returned and started work at Hylton Ross Travel in Camps Bay. I was destined to travel; Zimbabwean-born, South African bred, a British Citizen (I lived there for five years), honorary Australian (my entire family lives there), and I now reside in Knysna with my husband and 2 children.
