Industry trips have taken me to Mauritius, Cancun, Macau, Victoria Falls and beautiful Kruger lodges. My love of hiking and yoga has led me along trails like the Fish River Canyon, the Otter Trail and, in 2025, the Inca Trail in Peru, with an unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu and a stopover in São Paulo. I have also explored Morocco and co‑hosted a retreat in Namibia, dashed through Copenhagen and Stockholm, and road‑tripped Iceland. Even in destinations I have not yet visited, like Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, Croatia and the Indian Ocean Islands, I have done extensive training and booked many trips. Over the years I have developed a particular passion and expertise for honeymoons, wellness escapes, sustainable and tailor‑made travel. I am a big supporter of solo travel, because it has been the backbone of my own story, and I know how to design trips that feel safe, empowering and deeply personal when you are travelling on your own. My love affair with travel began long before I ever boarded a plane. As a shy 21‑year‑old with a backpack and a head full of dreams, I set off from Luxembourg to Greece, to Holland and then Israel, piecing together a route by train, plane and ferry. It was messy, imperfect and unforgettable: the kind of journey that changes how you see the world and yourself. Much of my early exploring was solo. I welcomed 1 January 2000 in Ireland, then crossed by ferry to visit family in London, hopped over to Paris for a weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday, returned a few years later for a creative workshop that filled my notebook and my soul, and in December 2018 wandered through the Czech Republic with my husband, weaving family visits into winter streets and Christmas lights. France has called me back twice since my 40th, and I finally met Milan in person. Quietly, Milan is starting to rival Paris as my favourite European city. In 2023 I drifted along the rivers of Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands and spent Christmas in Amsterdam again, something I last did (and loved) in 1992. In November 2024 I returned to the UK for the first time since 2000, spending time with fellow Travel Counsellors in Manchester and with dear friends in Wales. Every journey I take uncovers new stories, shortcuts and little secrets to pass on to you, so your travels feel less generic and more like they were designed with you in mind. I travelled through Europe on a 30 day Contiki Tour, covering France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Spain, explored 4 beautiful Greek islands, and was fortunate enough to live in London for 4 years, giving me the opportunity to travel extensively and explore Europe on a deeper level with either weekend trips to Paris, or a girls trip staying in the villages of Tuscany and being track-side at the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco. My travels have also included family holidays to Mauritius, skiing in Austria and visiting Paris, as well as an unforgettable solo tour through Canada and the USA. One of my most special trips was experiencing the Serengeti migration with my parents and my husband in Tanzania. One of my first “international travel” memories was of watching my uncle’s slide show of their adventurous trip to South America. After school I became an au-pair and lived for 10 months in Germany. It was here that my love for travel was born and I fell in love with Europe. I then enrolled at the University of Pretoria and obtained a B.Com degree in Tourism Management. I recently completed a Diploma in Sales Management from Varsity College as well as a Programme in Advanced Marketing Management from UNISA Centre for Business Management. My career started in 2000: I started at a tour operator specialising in Spain and Portugal. I then moved on to a retail travel agency where I gained a lot of extensive experience. I gained in-depth knowledge of various countries and visited many destinations. Some of my travel memories include: enjoying the beaches of the Algarve, shopping in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, experiencing Eastern European cultures, cruising in the Greek Isles, driving in the Black Forest and taking a rail journey up the Swiss Mountain peaks, enjoying Austrian music and entertainment and sampling French cuisine, marvelling at the ancient wonders in Egypt and enjoying la Dolce Vita in Italy! Experiencing the night-life in London and Amsterdam and climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge. My 10 years experience in the industry and my passion for what I do motivated me to start my own travel business. I have travelled to a number of European countries, namely Germany, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria and Italy as well as to our Global Conference in Manchester. Before I became a Travel Counsellor, I worked for a large leisure retail group (2005 – 2010) and a student travel group (2010 – 2013). I have lived in Pretoria for the largest part of my life and what I absolutely love about my hometown is its people and their warm hospitality. During 1989 I started my career in travel as a junior travel consultant. Those were the days of paper tickets, handwritten invoices and the fax machine was our most modern technology. Over the years a lot has changed, but one thing remains the same - the uniqueness of people.
