It's Nice To Meet You

Hi I am Laura and I am a personal Travel Counsellor.

I have 14 years of travel experience and I live in Pretoria. I can service clients from far and wide. I have a wealth of knowledge about Pretoria as well as the surrounding areas.

I have travelled extensively in South Africa and have personally travelled to Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zanzibar and Tunisia. African travel has a beauty of its own. Standing on the edge of Lake Malawi hearing the Fish Eagle call, hearing the roar of the lions at Moremi in Botswana, watching the “smoke that thunders” at Victoria falls, and a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, just to name a few. Like the drums of Africa, it has its own rhythm.

I have also travelled within North America, England, Scotland, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, Mauritius, and Australia

I have been on many cruises: Portuguese Island , Cape Town to Walvis Bay, Birdlife cruises to Marion Island and the cruise to nowhere ( out into the Atlantic)

I am an avid birder. I have three children, scattered between Pretoria, London and Sydney.

I am a corporate and a leisure consultant.

I would love to help arrange your personal travel. I enjoy cooking and for me travel is experiencing the soul of a country.

Travel is a journey and not a destination. I look forward to hearing back from you. If you travel for work I can also arrange this for you.

Sydney

27 October 2023

Sydney. Wow what a city. I have been lucky enough to travel to Sydney on quite a few occasions. The Sydney opera house and the bridge are always an incredible sight. I have walked over the bridge many times and a couple of years back my sister and I climbed the lower climb of the bridge. Needless to say I was terrified! What an experience. The Sydney ferries are such fun. You jump aboard and you can travel around Sydney. It is my utter spoiling and at 4 AUD it is a cheap way to see Sydney. One just always needs to remember to tap on and off. Dinner at Mr. Wong is indeed a special memory. My daughter, granddaughter and I went for dumplings on my last visit. This last visit I went up the Sydney Tower. Wow! What a view. The aquarium and the zoo have always been on my list with my granddaughter. In Australia, each city has free city tours. Well worth it. They are led by Australian citizens. A good way to get to know the lie of the land. In Sydney they now have a tram running from Circular Quay down George Street. The Queen Vic building is amazing and nothing beats Adriano Zumbo macarons. Darling Harbour has a fabulous waterfront with many restaurants. My favourite little restaurant is Limelight in Neutral Bay. The buses are plentiful as are the trains. Did you know they have fireworks from Sydney Harbour bridge at night? It is one of my favourite places

Botswana

26 February 2019

I love getting feedback from my clients I have clients who have returned from Botswana. The trip was amazing. We arrived in Kasane airport and were picked up and taken to our lodge. The Ngoma Lodge was out of this world, to say the least! The managers Wes and Roxanne were most welcoming, and the staff were equally friendly and most helpful. It was just us and a couple from the UK, so we really felt like VIP’s We were taken on a game drive and then headed back for dinner and then went back out on a night drive. The following day after a fab breakfast we were taken on a Chobe River Safari. We had a delicious lunch onboard and saw lots of game, in the afternoon we went on a safari and we saw 3 different sightings of lions, a wild dog kill and lots more game. We headed back to the lodge for diner (which was delicious) and enjoyed a few drinks before heading for bed. The next morning, we had an early morning game drive at 5am. We arrive back in time for breakfast and we headed onto Kasane Airport where we were collected and taken to Zimbabwe. Overall, I would rate the Safari Lodge 10/10. When we arrived in Zim, we headed straight to the bridge where my son did his bungee jump! We then went on the Zambezi river cruise, that was fab! The weather was dry, and we saw game (but nothing as good as Kasane). That evening we spent at Elephant Hills Resort, there was a big conference on, and we met some interesting people. The next morning, we got up early and went to do the Falls walk, it was raining heavily! But I have to say we both really enjoyed it. We were the first in, so got to enjoy the falls to ourselves. We headed back to the hotel to dry off and pack for the airport. Unfortunately, we were delayed at Vic Falls Airport due to rain and heavy cloud, so the plane couldn’t land, anyhow, it eventually did despite the weather and a power cut at the airport. Overall, we both had a wonderful time. Laura thank you so much for organising such a fantastic trip. I would absolutely love to bring my husband there in the future, I think we would probably start off in the Okavango and then go on to Kasane. He really wants to see the Falls. I have given your contact details to a friend in JHB. Thank you again Laura, you certainly went above and beyond my expectations like booking our seats, checking us in etc.

Sydney and Uluru

26 February 2019

Last year I had two magnificent trips to Australia. Both trips I stayed in Sydney. I had the privilege of staying in Neutral Bay and being able to walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the city. What a view! The Opera House and the Bays are magnificent. I was lucky enough to be treated to a trip to Uluru. It was spectacular! The field of lights was an added bonus. I flew on Qantas Airlines and both trips were great. Sydney is such a beautiful city. I climbed the Sydney Harbour bridge and I did the free walking tour. The ferries are such fun and you can buy an Opal card and load money on it to use on the ferries. The green and yellow ferries are the best! I did the walk from Manly to Bondi Beach. Walking through the Botanical Gardens is spectacular especially during Vivid. Beautiful! It is hard to describe how gorgeous the Opera House is when its lit up with light shows. I went to Luna Park and enjoyed fun rides. What a blast from the past. A tip from me is that sundowners at the Lighthouse at Cremorne point is a must do! The view of Sydney from Cremorne is stunning. I was spoilt with a high tea Cruise on the Sydney Harbour. All in all, Sydney and Uluru are worth a visit! Contact me and I will help you plan your trip to Australia

Fly fishing at Highlands Run

29 May 2018

This weekend we headed out from Pretoria to Highlands Run. The N4 had one or two stoppages but we reached Dullstroom in good time. We stopped at Harries pancakes for a pancake and coffee and then headed on our way to Lydenburg. The road is full of potholes so travel is either by 4x4 or very slowly. The dirt road to the Highlands run is quite hectic and not to be recommended when wet and when you are not travelling in a 4x4. However the accommodation is cosy. We arrived to a lovely fire roaring. It comfortably sleeps 8. We had all taken the meals options which meant no cooking for us. Thomas is knowledgeable and took one of our group walking. The men were out early and late to catch trout. There were plenty to catch which meant that they came back very happy. I spent a leisurely weekend reading and relaxing. It is definitely a great place for those who fish and who need some Rest and Relaxation. Speak to me if you would like more information

Hermanus

02 May 2018

Thought about travelling to the Cape? I would recommend that you head out to Hermanus, it is the place to be. It is only an hour and a half drive outside from Cape Town and is the perfect location for a short break. There is water, sea, beach and a fabulous wine route, the Hemel en Aarde I have been coming down to Hermanus for the last 6 years. There are fabulous restaurants and markets, the accommodation is great. It has the whales and Shark cage diving close by. It is safe and the people are friendly. Visits can walk on or admire the gorgeous mountain, do walks on the beach or through the town, there are bicycle tracks and wonderful markets etc. Hermanus is very busy and a popular meeting spot when the annual whale festival takes place. Visitors can spot numberous whales in the bay and many of them breaching. Give me a call for more information.

Laura was absolutely wonderful, particularly on Friday 4th August when I urgently needed an air ticket from Paris to Johannesburg for my god child. I wish to thank Laura from the bottom of my heart for the interest and trouble she took in obtaining the ticket. I commend her for the exemplary conduct and excellent service. She is a credit to her own business and to Travel Counsellors.
