Dear Traveler
My name is Jeanne Thirion, a Travel Counsellor based in Kimberley, South Africa.
I have been in travel for over 20 years now, and am happy to report, after the scare the pandemic gave us, that travel is back in full swing and that we are looking forward to the future again.
I worked as an Au Pair in Germany after school and that is where the travel bug bit. On returning home I studied Travel and Tourism and joined a well know Travel Management Company for over 10 years.
It is however, since joining Travel Counsellors in June 2010, that I have discovered the joy of building long lasting personal relationships with my clients and in so doing, being able to offer them superior service and tailor made advice. They love the fact that I am always just a phone call away, a trusted friend who can advise and get them out of a tight fix when the need arises. With Travel Counsellors award winning technology and global contracts, I also have access to a multitude of special rates and services. From flights, accommodation, car rental and tours, cruises, visas, travel insurance and activities, I am your one stop shop.
I achieved the Travel Counsellors Award for 'Best Business Increase' for two years running and was honored to take home the award for Best South African Travel Counsellor in 2016.
I have travelled to a number of European countries, namely Germany, The Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria and Italy as well as to our Global Conference in Manchester. I have also visited Mauritius, Zanzibar, Madagascar and Egypt. Each destination holds a special memory.
I know that travelling can be stressful and one often doesn’t know where to begin, so please, leave the details in my hands. I’ll take away the worry and leave you with only the excitement of the coming trip and the wonderful memories thereafter.

The Magical Island of Mauritius. A mere 4 hours from Johannesburg. That is where I found myself when I stepped off Air Mauritius after a spacious, enjoyable and well serviced flight. With year round balmy weather, every month is a good time to visit, and with the multitude of hotels and resorts available, there is something to suit everyone's budget. Whether for a relaxing holiday to spend quality time with family and friends, or an adventure filled mini break, or for a company conference or incentive event, Mauritius has it all. I had the privilege of spending 3 nights at Beachcombers 5 Star Shandrani Resort and Spa, enjoying the benefits of their all inclusive Serenity Package. With all meals, drinks and many activities all included, once you have paid for your initial package, you needn't worry about signing any further bills. Situated on the south coast of the island, The Shandrani is a convenient 5 minute drive from the airport. The private peninsula is lapped by the Blue Bay Marine Park which is rich in sea life and offers 3 different beaches to discover. All the rooms are sea facing and will be undergoing a soft refurbishment over the next few months. Shandrani offers a fabulous Spa by Clarins and a Bob Marlon children's club. I also had the pleasure of visiting the 5 Star LUX Belle Mare Hotel and Spa, located on the East side of the island, about 1 hours drive from the airport. The resort is comprised solely of suites, which can all sleep up to a maximum of 4 people. Half the suites have recently been refurbished and they are truly divine. The LUX* Island Resorts focus on light, easy living, with a minimal impact on the environment. They offer 50 little touches, some more visible than others, which will make your stay unforgettable. Special mattresses, homemade ice cream, a coffee bar, a telephone booth offering unlimited free calls home, a fun photo booth, hammocks and bean bags strewn across the resort and a cooler trolley with drinks which are placed at a different spot each day, these are a few of the special things you will find. All bookings also afford you a complimentary excursion to a private island for a full day of snorkelling, a barbecue lunch and drinks. Speak to me more about this. Children are also well catered for. Never having been abroad and being very nervous about this new experience, Jeanne was so patient in explaining everything to us and making very valuable suggestions. The flights she booked were reasonable and our flying experience was great. She emailed us a few times before our departure making sure everything was in place and even on the day of our departure she contacted us to wish us well. On our return we again received correspondence from her. She took interest in us and it was not just a job that had to be done. Last year my wife and I decided we would like to visit Italy. The thought of organising all the transport, hotels, sightseeing, etc. was pretty daunting. We had heard of Jeanne Thirion from Travel Counsellors, so we asked her if she could recommend how we could spend a short holiday in Italy.
She quickly came back with a package tour offered by the Trafalgar group, which incorporated Rome, Venice and Florence. It sounded perfect so we asked her to proceed. She then sorted out our flights, suggested some stop-over options, and advised on obtaining Visas etc. All paperwork was personally delivered and we were kept up to date as the time approached.
In terms of the holiday itself, we had a great time. The Trafalgar package was well organised, took in three great cities (plus a couple of on-route stops at Verona and Assisi), and allowed us to purchase some extra tourist attractions that fitted neatly into our schedule.
It was a packed 8 days or so, we came back tired but excited. We managed to see and experience so much of Italy in such a short time.
Thank you Jeanne for recommending and organising such a wonderful holiday.

Jeanne het vir ons 'n vakansie na Kanada gereel Junie 2012. Ek kan net met lof van al haar reelings getuig. Van die vliegtuigkaartjies, Ferry, huurmotors, verblyf alles het net seepglad verloop. In die 3 weke wat ons in 'n vreemde land was kon ons maar net na haar notas gaan kyk om te sien waar moet ons wees of wat ons sien! I would like to report EXCELLENT service by Jeanne Thirion who assisted my mother Lynne Webster with her travel arrangements from Kimberley to Edinburgh (via OR Tambo and Heathrow). While Jeanne could not control the delayed flight in Kimberley and the subsequent rush for my mom to get her connection at OR Tambo, she was in contact with myself and my sister (in Scotland) until late last night. My mom DID catch her connection, thanks to Jeanne booking her in and booking her luggage all the way through. The assistance and CARE Jeanne portrayed was out of this world.
