Masai Mara & Diani Beach: A Once in a Lifetime Celebration Escape
Elegant and Aspirational
Bring your favourite people together for a once in a lifetime celebration in Kenya: two nights on safari in the legendary Masai Mara, followed by a full week of all inclusive relaxation on the white sands of Diani Beach. This tailor made itinerary is designed for friends and family arriving from around the world, with seamless connections, a fly in safari at Sarova Mara Game Camp and a luxurious all inclusive stay at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort.

Every so often, a trip idea lands on my desk that feels truly special. One that brings together friends and family from different corners of the world, for a milestone celebration you only plan once.
This was exactly the case for a group of eight travelling from Australia, the UK and South Africa. Their dream: to meet in Kenya for an intimate safari and beach escape, timed around a quieter and better‑value travel window. Although they have not yet travelled, the itinerary was simply too good not to share as inspiration.

A Shared Adventure, Starting Together in Nairobi
To make the logistics as smooth as possible, I designed the journey so everyone could connect in Johannesburg and fly together to Nairobi. From there, seamless domestic flights and transfers were woven in so that, the moment they landed in Kenya, they could simply relax and immerse themselves in the experience.

Masai Mara: Two Nights in Classic Safari Style
The adventure begins with a fly‑in safari to the world‑famous Masai Mara. After arriving in Nairobi in the early morning, the group would transfer across to Wilson Airport for their short hop into the bush, landing right in big‑game country.
Their base: Sarova Mara Game Camp, a mid‑to‑upper‑end, classic tented lodge that blends comfort with that authentic “under canvas” feel.
- 2 nights in Deluxe Tents on a full board basis
- 2 game drives per day with experienced rangers
- All park entrance fees included for the duration of the stay

On day one, they would check in, enjoy lunch and some time to freshen up before their first afternoon game drive. Evenings are spent around the fire and over hearty dinners, swapping sightings and stories.

Day two is all about the Mara: think early morning and late afternoon game drives, with time between to rest or simply sit and watch the plains roll out in front of you.

For those wanting something truly unforgettable, I suggested an optional hot air balloon safari over the savannah at sunrise: drifting over herds of wildlife as the sun paints the sky, followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush.

On day three, after a final morning game drive and breakfast, they would fly back to Nairobi, ready for the coastal chapter of the journey.

Diani Beach: Seven Nights of All‑Inclusive Coastal Bliss

From Nairobi, a short flight takes them on to the Kenyan coast, where a private transfer would deliver them straight to Diani Beach: a stretch of powder‑soft sand and swaying palms that is regularly named among the best beaches in Africa.
Here, I chose Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, again in the mid-to-upper-end category, offering an excellent all- inclusive concept and plenty of space for a group to unwind together.

- 7 nights in Bustani Garden Rooms
- All‑inclusive meals and drinks
- A superb choice of bars, restaurants and pools
- Non‑motorised water sports, daily activities and evening entertainment

Days here are deliberately unstructured: lingering breakfasts, time around the pool or on the beach, stand‑up paddleboarding or kayaking, perhaps a round of golf, followed by dinner together and relaxed evenings under the stars.

Optional excursions along the coast or into the local area can easily be arranged directly with the resort.

On the final day, after a last breakfast and a final stroll along the sand, they would transfer back to Mombasa Airport for their journey home, carrying a lifetime of shared memories.

Why This Works So Well for A Group Celebration

For a multi‑generational or multi‑country celebration, this kind of itinerary ticks a lot of boxes:
- A single meeting point so everyone can start the trip together
- A balance of high‑energy safari with slow, indulgent beach time
- Mid‑to‑upper‑end properties that feel special but still offer strong value
- An all‑inclusive coastal stay that makes budgeting easy for a larger group
- Plenty of flexibility, with optional add‑ons like hot air ballooning or golf for those who want them
If you are dreaming of bringing your favourite people together for a big birthday, anniversary or just‑because trip, a Kenya safari and beach combination like this is a truly unforgettable way to celebrate.
I would work with you to tailor the details: the number of nights, room types, level of inclusions and budget, as well as coordinating flights if your group is arriving from different parts of the world.
