Itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome to Madrid

Arrive in Madrid and settle into your hotel. Take in the city’s lively atmosphere before meeting your Travel Director and fellow travellers. Enjoy dinner together and a city orientation to begin your journey.

Day 2: Madrid to Valencia

Travel to Valencia, where medieval landmarks sit alongside striking modern architecture. See the historic city gates and the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences complex. Taste organic horchata, a traditional local drink, during a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience.

Day 3: Valencia to Guadix and Granada

Continue south through Spain’s changing countryside towards Guadix. See the unusual cave houses built into the rocky landscape. Afterwards, travel to Granada and settle in ahead of tomorrow’s discoveries.

Day 4: Granada to Córdoba and Seville

Explore the Alhambra’s palaces, gardens and courtyards with a Local Specialist. Continue to Córdoba to visit its remarkable Mosque-Cathedral. Arrive in Seville, your home for the next three nights.

Day 5: Discover Seville

Get to know Seville with a Local Specialist, including a visit to its impressive cathedral. Explore streets and squares filled with Andalusian character. Enjoy time to soak up the atmosphere or choose an optional experience at an additional cost.

Day 6: Jerez and Cádiz

Discover Jerez’s sherry-making traditions and sample its famous wine. Continue to Cádiz for an introduction to this historic coastal city. Return to Seville after time among its squares and waterfront sights.

Day 7: Seville to Évora

Cross into Portugal for a Be My Guest lunch with Tiago and Vera at their family’s Lusitano horse ranch. Continue to Évora for guided sightseeing, including the cathedral and Chapel of Bones. See the Roman temple before dinner at your hotel.

Day 8: Évora to Lisbon

Journey to Lisbon and join a Local Specialist for sightseeing. Explore the Belém district and see landmarks celebrating Portugal’s seafaring history. Enjoy a taste of Pastéis de Belém along the way.

Day 9: Lisbon at Your Pace

Spend today exploring Lisbon independently, perhaps stopping for coffee and a custard tart. An optional excursion visits Estoril, Cascais and a royal palace. A traditional fado evening is another option, with additional costs applying.

Day 10: Lisbon to Fátima and Salamanca

Visit Fátima, one of Portugal’s best-known pilgrimage sites. Cross back into Spain and continue to Salamanca. Admire its golden stone buildings and visit the elegant Plaza Mayor.

Day 11: Salamanca to Toledo and Madrid

See the walled city of Ávila before continuing to Toledo. Visit Santo Tomé Church and the former Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, then watch traditional steel craftsmanship. Arrive in Madrid for two nights.

Day 12: Explore Madrid

Discover more of Madrid with a Local Specialist. Free time offers the chance to visit the Prado Museum independently or browse the shops. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to Segovia at an additional cost.

Day 13: Farewell Madrid

Enjoy breakfast before your journey comes to an end. Say goodbye to your Travel Director and fellow travellers. Continue to the airport for your onward flight.
