Shandrani Beachcomber:
Bubbles, Blue Seas & A New Family Favourite
For me and my husband, Shandrani Beachcomber wasn’t just another hotel stay. It very quickly became his favourite, the one he keeps talking about and wants to go back to with the whole family. Even walking into our room for the first time felt like a bit of a celebration.
On arrival, we’d been given a complimentary upgrade to the adults‑only section, Shandrani for 2 and when we opened the door there were bubbles on ice and flowers waiting for us. It instantly felt romantic and a bit “wow”, like they knew it was a special trip for us.
The room itself was really comfortable. The bathroom had a big, lovely shower and a double sink area, so we could both get ready without bumping into each other. Robes were hanging up, which always makes it feel properly like holiday mode has started.
In the bedroom there was a big, comfy bed and a couple of loungers that were perfect for afternoon reading or just chatting and doing nothing. Then there was the balcony: small, but with the ocean right in front of us. You did not need much more than that view.
During the day, we fell into an
easy pattern of pool, sea, repeat. There are two main pool areas and plenty of
frozen cocktails to work your way through, with the beach literally a few steps
away. We just drifted between swimming, paddling, sailing, snorkelling, lying
on sunbeds while grabbing another drink and watching the odd flight take off in
the distance.
In the evenings, everything slowed down as the sky went that deep golden orange and the light hi the water and palm trees. It looked almost unreal at times, like a movie scene, but it still felt relaxed and low‑key. You just wanted to sit there and watch it.
If you like to be a bit active on holiday, Shandrani is brilliant. Between us and what we saw around the resort, there was so much going on: golf for anyone who loves time on the course, tennis and padel for a fun knockabout, and bike rides or hikes if you want to explore on land.
That mix gives the place a great energy. You can have a busy morning playing sport, then spend the afternoon by the pool or on the beach and never feel like you are missing out. It is not just for the hardcore kite surfers either. The shoreline itself is lovely for slow walks, paddling in the shallows or just lying back and listening to the water.
At night, the resort felt almost like a different place. The bars were lit up, dotted around with different vibes and views, so you could pick where you felt like sitting that evening.
Food‑wise, the seafood and sushi really stood out for us: beautifully fresh, really tasty and nicely presented, so dinner felt like something to look forward to rather than just a standard buffet.
We celebrated our anniversary
there and it honestly was one of those evenings we will keep talking about for
years.
I would recommend Shandrani for 2 for couples celebrating something like an anniversary or a big birthday, or the main resort for families who want good beach time plus lots of activities, and anyone who enjoys a relaxed kind of luxury with some fun, active options thrown in. If you are after a place that feels both romantic and family‑friendly, and a beach you will take far too many photos of, Shandrani is a really lovely choice.
