Summer Vibes in Jeffreys Bay From the 15th to the 17th of December, our coastal adventure continued in the ever-vibrant surf town of Jeffreys Bay — or JBay, as the locals lovingly call it. Known for its world-famous waves, laid-back atmosphere and endless beaches, JBay has a unique energy that instantly makes you feel like you’re on holiday.

15 December – Sun, Surf & Summer Nights

We arrived in Jeffreys Bay quite early, and before even checking in, we headed straight down to the beach to soak up as much sun as possible. There’s something about that first beach stop in a new town that just sets the tone — warm sand under your feet, the sound of crashing waves and that fresh ocean breeze.

After some quality beach time, we took a walk through town, exploring all the little stores and surf shops nearby. Jeffreys Bay is filled with charming boutiques, local craft stores and well-known surf brands, making it such a fun place to wander around.

For lunch, we stopped at  Bru Co for a light bite. Great coffee, relaxed vibes and delicious food — the perfect midday break.

That evening, we experienced the magical Jeffreys Bay Light Festival. The town was alive with music, lights and summer excitement. Artists like Dojo and Early B performed, and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate summer in a town that knows how to host a good time.

16 December – Exploring the Surf Capital

The 16th of December brought quite a bit of wind, so our beach day plans were slightly derailed. But in true holiday spirit, we made the most of it and spent the day exploring more of JBay and its iconic beaches and surf spots.

Jeffreys Bay is famous worldwide for Supertubes, one of the best right-hand point breaks on the planet. Even if you’re not a surfer, it’s incredible to stand there and watch the pros ride the waves.

We also explored:

  • Dolphin Beach – A Blue Flag beach perfect for families and long walks.
  • Point Beach – Popular with surfers and great for scenic views.
  • Kabeljous Beach – A little quieter and ideal for relaxing strolls.

Even though it was windy, exploring the coastline and discovering each beach’s unique character made the day special in its own way.

Must-Do’s in Jeffreys Bay

If you’re planning a trip to JBay, here are some absolute must-do’s:

  • Visit Supertubes and watch the surfers in action.
  • Explore the Jeffreys Bay Shell Museum — home to an incredible collection of shells.
  • Take a scenic drive along the coast towards Aston Bay.
  • Enjoy a sunset walk along Dolphin Beach.

Where to Eat in JBay

Jeffreys Bay has so many fantastic dining spots:

  • JBay Bru Co– Great coffee and light meals.
  • Nina’s Real Food – A local favourite with fresh, flavourful dishes.
  • Kitchen Windows – Incredible ocean views and amazing food.
  • Tasty Table – Perfect for breakfast or brunch.

17 December – Heading Home

On the morning of the 17th, we woke up early, packed the car, and began our journey back home — sun-kissed, relaxed and filled with beautiful summer memories.

Jeffreys Bay gave us sunshine, music, adventure and that carefree coastal feeling that lingers long after you leave.

Until the next road trip
