Explore Central Europe on an unforgettable 7-night cycling adventure from Prague to Vienna. Ride through peaceful countryside, medieval villages, riverside landscapes and the beautiful Wachau wine region. Along the way, enjoy local food, Czech beer, scenic cycling paths and the support of an experienced leader.
Day 1-2: Begin your journey through Prague
Arrive in Prague, the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic. Meet your group and local leader at the welcome meeting this evening. If you arrive early, take a stroll through the Old Town or across the Charles Bridge. Later, enjoy a relaxed evening getting to know your fellow travellers.
Your cycling adventure begins with a bike fitting and an orientation ride through Prague. Cycle through the city’s fascinating streets and admire the historic buildings surrounding the Old Town Square. After your ride, enjoy a visit to a local brewery, including a beer tasting and tour. The rest of the day is free to explore Prague at your own pace.
Day 3: Cycle to Český Krumlov
Travel to České Budějovice before beginning a scenic ride through the South Bohemian countryside. Follow the Vltava River as you cycle towards the charming medieval town of Český Krumlov. Once you arrive, spend the afternoon exploring the town’s winding lanes and riverside setting. You could visit the castle, hike to Krížová Hora or enjoy an optional canoe trip.
Day 4: Journey to Lipno Lake
Continue your cycling adventure through the beautiful Czech countryside. Ride from Český Krumlov towards Lipno Lake, taking in peaceful forests, rolling landscapes and charming villages. This scenic area is perfect for enjoying the fresh air and slower pace of life. After your ride, relax and enjoy the evening in your overnight destination.
Day 5: Ride to Melk
Cycle alongside the mighty Danube River on a mostly flat route towards Melk. Enjoy views of riverside villages, lowland forests and the surrounding Austrian countryside. As you approach Melk, look out for the towers and dome of the famous Melk Abbey. Explore the magnificent Baroque abbey, including its gardens and historic rooms.
Day 6: Through the Wachau Valley
Ride along dedicated cycle paths beside the Danube and pass through peaceful riverside towns. Continue through the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO-listed wine region known for its terraced vineyards. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn how wine has been produced here for centuries. Your day ends in the small village of Reidling.
Day 7-8: Finish your journey in Vienna
Take your final ride along the Danube cycle path towards Vienna. Today is the longest ride of the trip, but the route is mostly flat and slightly downhill. Celebrate your arrival with a well-earned coffee and slice of Sachertorte. Later, join an orientation walk and begin exploring Vienna’s impressive streets, culture and architecture.
Your cycling adventure comes to an end in Vienna. Enjoy a final breakfast and take in the atmosphere of this elegant European capital. If time allows, visit a palace, browse a museum or relax in one of the city’s famous cafés. Say goodbye to your fellow travellers and continue with your onward journey.
