SARS Online Traveller Declaration
IMPORTANT TRAVEL UPDATE FOR ALL SOUTH AFRICAN TRAVELLERS From 1 July 2026, the SARS Online Traveller Declaration is now mandatory for all travellers entering or leaving South Africa. Whether you're travelling for business, leisure, or visiting family and friends, you will need to complete your declaration before departure to avoid unnecessary delays at Customs.
Who needs to complete it?
- South African citizens
- Permanent residents
- Foreign visitors
Applies to travel by:
- Air
- Rail
- Road
- Sea
When must it be completed?
The declaration must be submitted within 24 hours before your departure.
Information you'll need:
- Passport or travel document
- Travel itinerary
- Contact details
- Details of travelling companions
- Information on currency or goods requiring declaration
Failure to complete the declaration may result in:
- Delays at Customs
