Greek honeymoons - which island should you choose?

I visited Greece again earlier this year, and with the number of Greek islands honeymoons on my desk at the moment (and big birthdays / solo trips and family reunions), I have noticed that people really struggle with which island to visit! Having been there a few times and been to several of the islands, I thought I'd quickly sum up a few pointers for considering where in Greece to go for that big holiday.

Greece is idyllic - no doubt, with its crystal-clear waters, picturesque villages, and stunning sunsets. There are just so many islands to choose from - but some are easier to get to than others which is a definite factor!

Santorini is a top pick for honeymooners, thanks to its breathtaking views and luxurious accommodations. The island's striking blue-domed churches, white-washed buildings, and dramatic cliffside views make it one of the most romantic destinations in the world. Couples can enjoy romantic sunsets from Oia, indulge in spa treatments, and explore the island's beautiful beaches. I love Santorini - it's unique and gorgeous (and has amazing wines too). But it tends to get really busy in the summer months, so if you're looking for seclusion, it may not be the spot for you. It's also not known for its beaches (although it does have some great scenic pebble beaches of different colours).

Mykonos is another popular choice for honeymooners, particularly those looking for a lively nightlife scene. The island boasts some of Greece's most stunning beaches, lively bars and restaurants, and plenty of opportunities for water sports. Couples can enjoy romantic walks along the narrow streets of Mykonos town, or party the night away in one of the island's many nightclubs. It's definitely a fun island - and if you stay in one of the quieter villages, it can tick all of the boxes.

For a more secluded and peaceful island that's still easy to get to, head to Corfu. This was the first island I visited, and I still have a real soft spot for it. Located in the Ionian Sea to the north of Mykonos and Santorini, Corfu is known for its lush greenery, beautiful beaches, and charming villages. The food in Corfu is incredible and it's big enough to feel island-y, but not so small that you can explore it all in a day.

Finally, the island of Crete is a great choice for honeymooners looking for a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. The island is home to ancient ruins, traditional villages, and stunning beaches, offering something for every type of traveler. The beaches are stunning in Crete, and there are top-notch luxury adults-only resosrts too, including Stella with its swim up rooms.

A muliti-island trip is also a great idea - Paros, Milos and Mykonos works well. Paros is known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and traditional architecture, while Milos, located in the Aegean Sea, is famous for its stunning geological formations and picturesque fishing villages. The island's beaches are also some of the most beautiful in Greece, with crystal-clear waters and soft white sand.

And then right near Turkey lies Rhodes, another favorite of mine. The island boasts stunning beaches, medieval architecture, and a rich cultural heritage. The island's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is home to some of the best-preserved medieval architecture in Europe. Rhodes also offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and water sports - and a mid-size airport means flights are generally quite easy.

No matter which of these islands you choose to visit, Greece certainly offers a host of wonder for a honeymoon or celebratory trip. So let's get planning?
