Meet Cunard’s New Ship

Cunard is the grande dame of cruise lines, having pioneered ocean travel with the first regular scheduled transatlantic crossing in 1840. Although it remains most famous for its iconic voyages to and from New York, Cunard offer a wide breadth of exciting itineraries to destinations that you've always dreamed of, aboard vessels which are pervaded by a sense of timelessness and sense of occasion.

The unveiling of Cunard's new ship, Queen Anne, is big news for the cruise line and the industry as a whole, but mainly of course for cruise lovers. Scheduled to launch in 2024 but with bookings available from May 2022 Cunard’s 249th ship will extend the Cunard Line for future generations and will form a remarkable quartet alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Anne will see Cunard’s much-loved signature spaces revamped for the 21st century, along with introducing fresh new dining, cultural and entertainment experiences – creating a beguiling blend of tradition and contemporaneity that retains all the character of this iconic brand while taking it resolutely into the 21st century.

Under the helm of Creative Director Adam D Tihany, designers David Collins Studio, Richmond International and Sybille de Margerie have dug deep into the Cunard archives to come up with a look that melds classic Cunard style – including the Art Deco finishes the cruise line is known for – with modern touches.

The vessel will also stand out for having the rarity of a female captain, Faroe Islands born Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge,  who first worked for Cunard 25 years ago, will proudly take the helm during Queen Anne's inaugural season. Besides looking after her guests and crew, Captain Thorhauge is keen to promote water-saving, recycling, and other green measures on board. When not at sea, she loves to spend time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Why Choose Cunard

Cunard is known for its impeccable crew and for its signature guest experiences including the classically British Afternoon Tea (traditional or champagne) served daily by white-gloved waiters, featuring the likes of freshly baked scones and delicate finger sandwiches.

Cunard's staterooms and suites come with 24-hour room service and nightly turndown with chocolate among their amenities. The most sought-after of Cunard’s accommodations are the super-spacious Queens Grill Suites with private butlers, pre-dinner canapés, a complimentary bar and access to their own fine-dining restaurant.

All Cunard’s grades of staterooms are linked to their own dedicated restaurant, however an array of other options are available including The Steakhouse at The Verandah with its USDA prime cuts and fantastic seafood, Dinner at The Lido with its fusion of fresh seasonal flavours, and alfresco dining in the sea air of the breeze-cooled open deck. As always, the ship’s chefs will be well equipped to accommodate most dietary requirements and to adapt dishes to suit guests’ needs

Where wellness is concerned, you’ll be spoilt for choice between spa treatments, hair salons/barbers and fitness facilities including gyms with the latest hi-spec equipment, yoga and Pilates classes, bootcamps and even bespoke training programs courtesy of Cunard's personal trainers.

Expect airy atriums with broad open decks and other uncrowded spaces with plenty of room in which to relax. Evenings will see glamorous nightly gala balls complete with dancing to a live orchestra, plus shows to rival those of London’s West End, hosted in a full-size theatre. Meanwhile, the award-winning Cunard Insights programme will feature talks by prominent experts ranging from astronauts to novelists, exclusive events, interactive learning and bespoke excursions in selected ports of call to really get you under the skin of your fascinating destinations.
