Best time to visit Costa Rica
Travelling to Costa Rica is possible year-round, however the months of September and October can be very rainy. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to April, and during July and August.

Recommended length of stay:  There’s so much to discover in Costa Rica, stay for at least two nights in each of the following destinations; Manuel Antonio, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, San José and Tortuguero

Local currency: Costa Rican Colon (CRC)

Top three experiences

Go zip-lining through the jungle, Monteverde
The famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is home to countless wildlife species, including jaguars, ocelots, and the quetzal. Zip-line in between the treetops for an exhilarating experience, and incredible views of the surrounding mountainside.

Watch turtles lay their eggs, Tortuguero
The small village of Tortuguero lies on the northeast side of Costa Rica, and is one of the most important nesting sites of the endangered green turtle in the Western Hemisphere. From February to October a variety of different turtle species nest along Costa Rica’s coastline, which you can witness for yourself – one of nature’s most amazing spectacles.

Raft down the Pacuare River
Experience the warm water, cascading waterfalls and lush rainforest as you raft down Pacuare River. If you’re looking for an adventure, try the white water rapids, or simply take in the incredible flora and fauna surrounding you.
