Tangala Safari Camp features three cosy chalets and six spacious luxury tents, each with a private patio, twin beds fitted with mosquito nets, and en-suite bathrooms complete with double basins, showers and toilets. Staying true to its natural setting, the camp runs entirely off the grid, using solar energy and natural gas to power its eco-friendly facilities.

The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, ideal for those wanting to disconnect and truly relax. Guests can enjoy the open-plan lounge and dining area, a viewing deck, swimming pool, and a lookout lounge – all facing a busy waterhole where wildlife often makes an appearance. Meals are crafted to reflect Africa’s character, and dining becomes a shared experience – a time for swapping stories, soaking up the setting, or simply reflecting on the day.

Daily game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon, led by passionate guides and skilled trackers who bring the bush to life. Bordering the Greater Kruger National Park, Thornybush is known for its thriving wildlife and birdlife, with frequent Big 5 sightings. Game drives are conducted in open vehicles designed for comfort and clear views.

Easily accessible, Tangala is around five hours by road from Johannesburg or just a 30-minute drive from Hoedspruit Airport, which receives direct flights from both Johannesburg and Cape Town. Transfers from the airport to the lodge are conveniently arranged with local providers.
