Day 1: Athens (Piraeus), Greece

Your journey begins in the cradle of civilisation, the oldest city in Europe. Day 2: Santorini, Greece

Today you'll visit one of the most photographed places in the world, the volcanic island of Santorini. Its iconic whitewashed villages, clinging dramatically to the sea cliffs, are a sight to behold. The island’s unique charm and subtle mystery have even led to speculation that it is the location of the lost city of Atlantis.

Day 3: Olympia (Katakolon), Greece

From the quaint seaside town of Katakolon on the Ionian Sea, you will step into the world of ancient Greece. This port is your gateway to Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of Greek mythology and the original Olympic Games. As you tour the ruins of this important sanctuary, you can almost hear the echoes of ancient crowds cheering on their heroes.

Day 4: Corfu, Greece

Welcome to Corfu, one of the most verdant of the Greek Isles, rimmed by dramatic blue waters and topped with tranquil hillside villages. While the collection of quaint cafes in Corfu Town feels distinctly continental, the island's secluded coves and sandy beaches are purely Greek. It's the perfect place to experience both sophisticated European charm and natural island beauty.

Day 5: Kotor, Montenegro

Tucked between towering mountains and the deep blue Bay of Kotor, you’ll discover the picturesque and secluded town of Kotor. Arriving here is an experience in itself, as you pass the dramatic 65-foot-high protective walls dating back to the 9th century. Stroll the labyrinth of cobbled streets, where cosy cafes and craft shops are nestled among graceful old buildings in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6: Split, Croatia

Explore the Mediterranean city of Split, located on the eastern shores of the Adriatic, which has a long history centred around Diocletian's Palace. This city offers a wealth of exciting places to visit, from the majestic cathedral and marble streets to the vibrant harbour. The café-lined promenades provide wonderful views of the coastal mountains, perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Day 7: Koper, Slovenia

As the largest town on the Slovenian coast, Koper boasts a colourful history that springs to life in its Old Town. Here, you can explore narrow, intertwining streets lined with Istrian limestone facades and enjoy open-air festivals. Be sure to savour local specialities like jota soup and fresh fish, paired with delicious local wines.

Day 8: Venice (Ravenna), Italy

Your voyage concludes in the historic town of Ravenna, once a thriving seaport and the westernmost pillar of the Byzantine Empire. You will marvel at the exquisite Byzantine mosaics that decorate the city's ancient churches, a testament to its rich Eastern heritage. It’s also a wonderful place to taste the famously delicious food of the Emilia-Romagna region before your journey home.
