Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Sarria
Your adventure kicks off in the hilltop town of Sarria. Settle into your hotel, take a stroll through the town’s charming streets, and enjoy your first dinner of the trip.

Day 2: Sarria to Portomarín (22km, approx. 6 hours)
Start your first full day of walking with a visit to the Church of the Convent of La Magdalena. As you head out of Sarria, you’ll pass through quiet countryside known as the “Meseta Lucense” and see traditional raised grain silos along the way. Cross the impressive dam into Portomarín, where you might catch sight of the old village ruins beneath the water.

Day 3: Portomarín to Palas de Rei (24km, approx. 6–7 hours)
Today’s walk takes you through a series of quaint hamlets and past stone calvaries. Don’t miss the church in Ligonde, dedicated to St James – a peaceful stop along your route.

Day 4: Palas de Rei to Melide (14km, approx. 4.5 hours)
A slightly shorter walk awaits, leading through the villages of Coto and Leboreiro before arriving in Melide. This town is the perfect place to try Pulpo a Feira – a local octopus speciality that’s famous in the region.

Day 5: Melide to Arzúa (14km, approx. 4 hours)
Continue your journey through rolling countryside and eucalyptus groves. Cross the peaceful River Seco on the Magdalena Bridge as you make your way to Arzúa, a town known for its local cheeses.

Day 6: Arzúa to Rua/Pedrouzo (18km, approx. 5–6 hours)
Today’s route is all about lush green landscapes and rural tranquillity. It’s a refreshing walk through open farmland and woodlands, giving you time to enjoy the calm before your final big day.

Day 7: Rua/Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela (21km, approx. 5–6 hours)
Your final stretch brings a mix of quiet trails and historical landmarks as you approach your goal. Arriving in Santiago de Compostela is truly rewarding – take in the sight of the cathedral, soak up the lively atmosphere, and celebrate the journey you’ve completed.

Day 8: Departure from Santiago de Compostela
After breakfast, your trip comes to an end. Spend a little time exploring Santiago if you can, or simply reflect on the incredible experience you’ve just had.
