Itinerary

Day 1: Seoul (Incheon), South Korea

Your journey begins in Seoul, where 5,000 years of heritage meet an ultra-modern city. You could visit the magnificent 14th-century Gyeongbok Palace, explore the bustling antique district, or tour the DMZ to understand recent history. Alternatively, simply wander the fish market and promenade at Incheon before embarking on your cruise.

Day 2: At Sea

Enjoy a full day at sea to relax and familiarise yourself with the superb facilities on board your ship. Perhaps you’ll indulge in a spa treatment, sample the fine dining options, or simply find a comfortable chair on deck. This is your day to unwind as you sail towards your first port of call in Japan.

Day 3: Sakaiminato, Japan

Today, you will discover Sakaiminato, the primary fishing port for Western Japan, where the seafood is a major attraction. The port is famous for its snow crab, considered a delicacy around the world, offering a unique taste of the region. Be sure to also see Kitaro Road, a street lined with hundreds of bronze "Yokai" spirit monster statues based on Japanese folklore.

Day 4: Kanazawa, Japan

Step back in time to the Edo Period as you explore Kanazawa, a city that survived World War II intact. Wander through the preserved Nagamachi samurai district and the historic Geisha district, with its charming rows of teahouses. The city also features attractive temples and a lively market that has been operating since 1721.

Day 5: Akita, Japan

On the Sea of Japan, Akita prefecture is a haven of natural beauty, famed for its hot springs and virgin beech forests. Visitors flock to the Tamagawa onsen for its unique health benefits, while nature lovers appreciate Senshu Park, especially when the cherry blossoms bloom. For a bit of history, you can tour Japan's most preserved samurai district by rickshaw.

Day 6: Aomori, Japan

In Aomori, you can immerse yourself in history by visiting fascinating archaeological sites and ancient villages. For a culinary delight, create your own donburi from the fresh, local seafood sold at Furukawa Fish Market. The region is also famous for its apple groves, where you can taste fresh fruit and homemade jams.

Day 7: Hakodate, Japan

For the best view of Hakodate, ride the gondola up its namesake mountain and gaze down at the spectacular vista below. Immerse yourself in history within the star-shaped walls of Fort Goryokaku, the site of famous battles that transformed Japan. Afterwards, enjoy a mouth-watering seafood rice bowl (kaisen-don) from the Hakodate Morning Market.

Day 8: At Sea

Take the opportunity to enjoy another relaxing day at sea. Revisit your favourite onboard restaurants, take part in some of the ship's activities, or simply relax on your balcony with a good book. It is the perfect chance to recharge as you sail towards your next destination.

Day 9: Hakodate, Japan

Today you have another opportunity to explore the port of Hakodate. You could revisit a favourite spot or discover something new, perhaps strolling along the city's sloping streets lined with unique shops. This second visit allows for a deeper appreciation of the city's blend of history, culture, and excellent cuisine.

Day 10: Kyoto (Osaka), Japan

From Osaka, you can visit Kyoto, the historical and cultural epicentre of Japan and its capital for over a thousand years. The city is home to approximately 1,600 Buddhist temples and over 400 Shintō shrines, offering a deep look into the country's traditions. From tranquil gardens to delicious local cuisine, Kyoto provides a window into the heart of Japan.

Day 11: Nagoya, Japan

Explore Nagoya, Japan's fourth-largest city and a centre of modern commerce, home to Toyota and Noritake china. You can visit the impressive Nagoya Castle, a designated National Treasure, before exploring the lively Sakae entertainment district. Don't miss Oasis 21, a multi-level public park with a futuristic water theme.

Day 12: Tokyo, Japan

Your cruise concludes in Tokyo, a city where ancient traditions and historic sites blend with modern culture. Walk amongst neon-glowing skyscrapers and regal temples, or find peace in the tranquil gardens surrounding the Imperial Palace. Whether this is your first or fifth visit, Tokyo will captivate your imagination before your journey home.
