Our Commitment to Care

Reuben’s Retreat was born in memory of Reuben Michael Graham who tragically passed away aged 23 months, and is Travel Counsellors dedicated Charity partner in the UK.

Reuben’s parents Nicola and Mike founded the charity to help other families facing the most challenging and heart-breaking times, enabling seriously poorly children and their loved ones the chance to spend time together through short breaks and create cherished, lifelong memories. Soon after Nicola became aware of the distinct lack of support that is available for families like hers who have lost a child, and so the vision for Reuben’s Retreat grew.

The charity’s primary goal is to create a sanctuary that will be a home-from-home for these families. They already provide support, counselling and well-being for children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families, and for parents and siblings who have lost a precious child, brother or sister.

Reuben’s Retreat are building something truly special and Travel Counsellors is dedicated to helping them achieve the next important phases of the project and ultimately their long-term vision for the charity.

From sky dives and bake sales to 25 hour ‘Reu-athons’ from our in-house TV studio in Manchester, our community of Travel Counsellors and support colleagues dedicate their time to support and raise funds for this much needed cause. We’re delighted and proud to have raised over £200,000 for the charity, funding the entrance of the Retreat and a family’s first experience and welcome when they visit.

Making Memories

As part of our commitment to Reuben’s Retreat we donate 20 short breaks per year to families with children that have life limiting conditions and those that have been bereaved of a child. From lodge holidays to city escapes these trips provide much needed respite for those that need it, and help families create lasting memories with their loved ones.
