Why I Keep Coming Back to Mauritius – A Travel Counsellor’s Perspective
As a Travel Counsellor, I have the privilege of helping others plan their dream holidays—but every now and then, I get to enjoy one myself. And when I do, Mauritius is always at the top of my list. It’s a destination I return to year after year, and for good reason. Whether you're planning a romantic honeymoon, a fun-filled family getaway, or a special multi-generational escape, Mauritius truly has something for everyone.
On my most recent trip, I had the pleasure of
staying at two beautiful Beachcomber resorts.
Canonnier
Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa
Nestled on the edge of Grand Baie, this charming 4-star resort was my home for
the first three nights. The service was warm and efficient, and the snorkelling
was fantastic. Each morning began with a delicious breakfast buffet, followed
by lunch at the scenic Navigator and dinner at either Navigator or
La Serenata. I’ve always preferred à la carte dining for lunch and
dinner, and these meals did not disappoint.
Victoria Beachcomber Resort
& Spa
Located on the west coast, this 4-star gem stole my heart. I stayed in a deluxe
ground-floor room—spacious, beautifully appointed, and just steps from the
beach. The long stretch of beach, crystal-clear waters, and inviting pool made
it hard to leave. Dining was a delight, with three diverse restaurants offering
something for every palate. I got to inspect Victoria for 2 – the adults only section of
the resort A highlight was our evening at Morris Beef with
delicious food, impeccable service, and a serene, child-free ambiance. The
swim-up rooms here are truly special.

Mauricia Beachcomber Resort
& Spa
This centrally located 4-star resort in the heart of Grand Baie has recently
undergone a stylish reception makeover. It’s perfect for those who love to
explore local markets and village life. The resort offers spacious rooms,
fantastic two-bedroom family apartments, two large pools, and a vibrant,
welcoming atmosphere.
Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf
Resort & Spa
This 5-star resort never fails to impress. With its breathtaking beach, perfect
for sunset strolls, and a selection of exquisite restaurants—including the
standout Italian eatery Il Corallo—it’s a true slice of paradise. I’ve
stayed here twice before and continue to be amazed by the exceptional service
and luxurious surroundings.
A Day on the Water
No trip to Mauritius is complete without a catamaran cruise. I opted for a more
intimate experience with a smaller group of just 18 guests. We enjoyed
snorkelling, swam in the mangroves, relaxed on a secluded beach, and were
treated to delicious food and a fantastic crew. Lots of great music and strong cocktails. It was the perfect way to soak
in the island’s natural beauty.
