Where to stay this May

01 March 2019

Here are our six of our favourite destinations to visit during May.

Florida

There probably isn’t a bad time to take the family off to Florida, with its multitude of theme parks and top-class attractions, such as Walt Disney World, Kennedy Space Center and Universal Studios – not to mention the Daytona 500 International Speedway and the 1.5-million-acre Everglades National Park, home to crocodiles, alligators, deer and Florida panthers.

Anyone planning to drop by Disney World during their time in Florida couldn’t pick better accommodation than Windsor Hills Resort. This incredible five-star gated resort is the closest holiday home resort to Walt Disney World and its pristine two or three-bedroomed condos, three-bedroomed town-homes and four to six-bedroomed pool homes are sure to impress.

When you’re not visiting the world-class attractions, the resort will keep you and your family busy with its double Olympic-size swimming pool with waterslide, hot tub lagoon spa, games room, movie theatre and fitness centre. Another great option for your Florida accommodation is the 2,300-acre Reunion A Salamander Golf & Spa Resort, which boasts 11 pools and a trio of championship golf courses.

“Florida is one of my favourite places. It has a mixture of things to do and see: Great beaches, nice people and top shopping – it just ticks all my boxes. Even if you’re not into theme parks, Florida still has so much to offer.”

Morocco

May sees Morocco really heat up with average temperatures of 18°C, low humidity and an equally low chance of rain.

One of our favourites places to stay in this majestic African country is the Mazagan Beach Resort. Covering over 250 hectares and incorporating a magnificent 7 km beach, this stunning five-star resort comprises 462 rooms designed in a comfortable, inviting Moorish style. It also boasts 30 spacious and luxurious Moroccan-style suites.

Suitable for families as much as couples and groups, guests can choose to indulge in several activities such as quad biking, paint-balling, tennis, football, horseback riding, biking and archery, along with kids’ clubs for youngsters of all ages.

Swim in the heated pool or tee-off on the resort’s 18-hole, 72-par golf course – the longest in Morocco and designed by Gary Player, winner of nine golfing majors. Indulge in an authentic Moroccan hammam at the Mazagan Spa, or try cardio training in the cutting-edge fitness room.

Lanzarote

Over in Europe, Lanzarote will also be warming up nicely in May, with temperatures reaching up to 25°C. You won’t struggle to find amazing accommodation on this Spanish island, with hotels such as the Princesa Yaiza Suite Resort Hotel, Elba Lanzarote Royal Village and Seaside Los Jameos Playa.

Families will love the Princesa Yaiza, with its six swimming pools (plus another two set aside for the kids), eight restaurants and bars, variety of land and watersports, and spa with a wide range of beauty treatments. This five-star hotel has also created a world of illusion for the youngest of the family, with Kikoland - a 10,000-square-metre children’s playground area with playhouses for various ages, basketball courts, a slider pool, amphitheatre, climbing wall and football pitch.

A short stroll away from the golden sands of Los Pocillos Beach is Seaside Los Jameos Playa – a charming four-star hotel with great tasting food, spacious accommodation, excellent service and all the facilities and activities to keep any family or couple content.

The varied accommodation options range from modern, comfortable suites to rooms specially designed for kids, where everything has been tailored to create memorable experiences for younger guests. Beyond the hotel’s walls, there’s Playa Dorada - one of the best beaches of Playa Blanca - just five minutes’ walk away and you can drive to the volcanic Timanfaya National Park in under half an hour.

“I would recommend Lanzarote and Playa Blanca for a holiday as its climate makes it an all-year- round destination - it’s really convenient to reach for a relaxing holiday to unwind and enjoy.”
