This past week saw the opening overs of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup – and there’s reason to be hopeful that hosts England could bring it home this summer.
That's because England has won more than two-thirds of the games they have completed since the last ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015. They also hold the world record for the highest score in 50-over cricket – coming close to becoming the first team to surpass 500 runs, hitting an incredible 481-6 against Australia last summer.
Ten countries are competing in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and we’re looking at half of them to highlight why we think they should be on your must-visit list, starting with…
Australia demonstrates its immense diversity by balancing fast-paced cosmopolitan cities with jaw-dropping natural wonders.
It’s a destination full of essential experiences, offering the brilliant colours of the Great Barrier Reef, the red sands of the Outback and stunningly diverse wildlife that includes swimming with whale sharks, gliding with turtles and koala cuddling.
Australia is warm all year round, but the summer months (December to March) are definitely the best time to visit when temperatures can reach 40°C.
It also includes the chance to experience the Sunshine Coast, visit crocodile hunter Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, Australia’s top theme park Movie World and Taronga Zoo, and travel to the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour.
It’s the land of infinite starry skies, majestic wildlife and landscapes that will take your breath away. Do you dream of venturing into the bush for the safari of a lifetime? Or maybe you just want to enjoy the beautiful beachfront playground of Cape Town? South Africa has it all.
One of the hotels that stands out to us is One&Only Cape Town. Set in the heart of the city, this glossy modern resort boasts generous proportioned accommodation, luxurious bathrooms and private balconies with spectacular views of the magnificent Table Mountain.
Unwind in its award-winning spa located on its very own private island, dine in world-class restaurants such as renowned Japanese eatery, Nobu, and sip vintage champagne or sundowner cocktails in chic glass-walled bars. The vibrant shops and restaurants of V&A Waterfront are just a short walk away too.
“I did some fab trips during my stay in Cape Town. Table Mountain, Cape Point and the Cape Peninsula tour are all highly recommend as you see some amazing scenery, penguins and beautiful views.”

Tick off New Zealand by embarking on an 18-night adventure around this amazing island this September. Flying out of Stansted with Emirates on September 3rd 2019, you’ll enjoy a half-board stay at the newly refurbished 5 Star Cordis Auckland before experiencing a TranzAlpine train journey, Kaikoura Whale Watch and Hole in the Rock Cruise ex Paihia (Bay of Islands).
Staying close to home can be just as rewarding so put your passport away for this one.
London always has something new, whether it’s unmissable exhibitions, mouth-watering restaurant openings, or fresh musicals (Big, &Juliet and the Gloria Estefan-based On Your Feet all open here in 2019).
One of our favourite hotels in the UK capital is Shangri La at the Shard. Spanning 18 floors of one of London’s most iconic skyline landmarks, the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard combines infallible luxury and impeccable hospitality with stupendous views over the city of London.
Lose yourself in an elegant Oriental sanctuary, soak up a cocktail in London’s highest bar and stay in exceptionally spacious and wonderfully appointed accommodation all within touching distance of London’s city life.
The best way to enjoy a holiday in the kaleidoscopic India is simply to open your heart and embrace one of the greatest shows on earth.
India is blessed with a startling array of world-famous attractions, from the historic Red Fort of Old Delhi, to the glimmering Golden Temple of Amritsar, the ghats of Varanasi, the desert palaces of Rajasthan, the tranquil backwaters of Kerala and the cool alpine air of Darjeeling. We shouldn’t forget the immortal Taj Mahal either.
Anyone yearning for spectacular sunsets, paradise beaches, a laid-back lifestyle, great market shopping sprees, and full-moon parties should definitely have Goa on their list.
