The pool suites of boutique hotels in Santorini are amongst the best – and most Instagrammed – spots in Greece with views over the caldera, whilst Mykonos’ bohemian allure hasn’t faded since the 1960s. The Chora a hugely popular spot for the romantic sunset views by the landmark Kato Mili windmills and the former fishermen’s houses in Little Venice.
Santorini & Mykonos
Oia is considered the most beautiful village of Santorini, with bright blue domes, houses of white and pastel pink and blue or cave houses (nowadays little shops or hotels). St. Nicolas Castle (Kastro), set clifftop at the northern end of the island, is known as “the sunset place”; it's also an excellent spot from which to see the windmills.
Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel
Here you’ll find Mystique, a Luxury Collection Hotel, a sophisticated adults-only enclave with stunning views, chilled music by the infinity pool and Cycladic-white buildings with canopied balconies.
There are 40 cave-style suites and villas with secluded terraces overlooking the Aegean and the volcano. All are styled with handcrafted local stone, driftwood and linen textiles; choose the Spiritual Suite and Spa for an outdoor whirlpool and small fitness room. Swimmable pools which can be heated are found in one of the four villas.
Head to the cave-like spa, which has a lovely steam room and balcony relaxation area, and be sure to dine at Asea, the Asian restaurant perched high on the cliffs above, serving delectable seafood.
Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection
Further to the south, the stylish Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection sits on the very edge of a cliff, spread over different levels, with 20 rooms and suites and one very luxurious villa suited to longer stays.
Most have a private outdoor terrace with expansive seating area opening to stunning panoramic views of the half-moon bay caldera and towering Skaros Rock; many, although not all, of the suites come with a heated pool. Choose the Grace Suite for the added benefit of a steamy hammam bath and both indoor and outdoor pool; alternatively, the VIP suite has the largest terrace and plunge pool at the hotel.
Away from your room, there’s candlelit clifftop dining at Santoro and a Champagne lounge, set high above sea level, the most idyllic spot for panoramic sunset views over the Aegean.
Mykonos’ bohemian allure hasn’t faded since the 1960s. Since then, the influx of supermodels and superyachts has inspired hot new hotels and restaurants. Its picturesque capital, Chora is a hugely popular spot for the romantic sunset views by the landmark Kato Mili windmills and the former fishermen’s houses in Little Venice.
Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge
Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge sits on a hill above Megali Ammos Beach, about a 20-minute walk from both Mykonos town. As a ‘Leading Hotel of the World’, service is exemplary; you’ll be provided with a mobile phone to call a personal driver to take you wherever you like on the island.
There are 32 luxurious yet simple suites, including several with private pools. The newly renovated Bill & Coo Suite has a dazzling infinity pool (which can be heated in April, May and October), and fully equipped veranda for romantic sunsets. A new one-bedroom villa with pool is in the works.
The hotel’s restaurant has been awarded the best in Greece several times over. Dine beside the sparkling infinity pool and seascape and enjoy Chef Athinagoras Kostakos’ signature dishes, harnessing native ingredients like olives, capers, citrus, fresh seafood and local vegetables.
On the other side of Mykonos Town to the north, Grace Mykonos has a fabulous location above the sandy, protected beach of Agios Stefanos, just a five-minute drive from the cosmopolitan Chora.
Understated luxury and ultra-clean lines pervade at this tiered hillside retreat, with its traditional architecture and white or neutral tones throughout. The 32 rooms and suites feel bright and airy, with several benefitting from heated plunge pools; there are suites designed specifically with families or honeymooners in mind.
À la carte breakfast is served until 11am (a nod to the lie-ins induced by Mykonos’ renowned nightlife) either at the intimate restaurant overlooking the focal pool or in-room. Mediterranean cuisine is available throughout the day and includes mezze with a twist.

Bill & Coo has introduced an adults-only sister hotel, Bill & Coo Coast Suites, aimed squarely at beach-lovers with just 15 suites and a private beach. The higher room categories also have a private hot tub or plunge pool.
