Our Top 10 Water Parks in Europe

16 July 2018

When the mercury rises, there’s no better place to head for with the kids than a water park, where all ages can cool off and have aquatic fun, whether it’s on adrenaline-inducing water slides or in specially designed toddlers’ water-play areas. We’ve rounded up our favourites around Europe for those heading for the Med, the mountains or on a city break.

Siam Park, Tenerife

Named no less than the world’s best water park in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards for four years in a row, this awesome Thai-themed venue on the south side of the most popular of the Canary Islands celebrates its 10th birthday in 2018. Mixing adrenaline rides such as the Tower of Power with family attractions, many of them with a dragon or snake theme, it also has a beach and cabanas to retreat to recover from all the excitement.

PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, Tarragona, Spain

Just an hour from Barcelona, this epic water park is part of the world-class PortAventura theme park, meaning you can visit it either as part of a city break from the Catalan capital or make a theme-park break of it (there are several fun hotels on-site). Among several super-scary slides, King Khajuna stands out for its near-vertical drop, while younger kids make a bee-line for the pirate galleon.

Slide & Splash, Algarve, Portugal

In the heart of the family-friendly Algarve region, one of Europe’s largest waterparks features everything from a disco river complete with pumping music and lights to an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool.

Faliraki Water Park, Rhodes

If you fancy a break from the beach, this lovely park is the place to head for, with a vast wave pool, a lazy river and other fun for all ages, from extreme slides including the dizzying Space Bowl and Black Hole rides to a toddlers’ pool.

Fasouri Watermania, Cyprus

On the south coast roughly mid-way between Paphos and Larnaca, this award-winning Polynesian-themed park includes a huge wave pool, the Extreme Black Holes dark slide, baby bungee swings and even a massage parlour where parents can grab some R&R if the opportunity arises.

WaterWorld, Cyprus

In the famous resort of Ayia Napa, this park with its ancient Greek theme combines classical statues, old ships and columns with flashy water slides and rides named after Greek myths, including The Fall of Icarus and Zephyr’s Breeze.

AquaPark Biscarosse, Nouvelle Aquitaine, France

This fantastic floating obstacle course takes up part of Port Maguide lake within easy reach of both Biarritz and Bordeaux, on France’s Atlantic coast. Bouncy fun for all the family includes trampolines, climbing walls and a giant catapult.

Aquariaz, French Alps

If you’re heading for the mountains this summer, don’t miss this tropical-themed indoor water park in the activity-packed resort of Avoriaz. The highlight is The Slidewinder half-pipe slide, but there are also climbing walls, a lazy river and a heated outdoor spa pool with glorious Alpine views.

Aqualandia Jesolo, Venice, Italy

Regarded by many as Italy’s best water park, this Caribbean-themed venue includes Shark Bay beach and rides and attractions in eight themed areas. Don’t miss Jungle Jump, with two parallel slides and the opportunity for the bravest riders to be catapulted from a trampoline.

Tropical Islands, Brandenburg, Germany

Just 50km from Berlin, this indoor water park in a converted aircraft hangar has a Bali rainforest theme. Expect a beach, a lagoon, waterslides, a sauna and spa area and even flights in tethered balloons, making this a day out with a difference.
