Washington DC - A State of Historical Surprises

When we decided to include a 3-Day Stopover in Washington DC after our week in Orlando, I certainly did not expect to be completely enthralled with all that the City had to offer us. From the abundance of Historial and Modern Museums to the Culinary delights & picturesque character of Georgetown.

Our first activity had to be the popular Hop-On Hop-Off Bus so that we could orientate ourselves before we walked the length and breadth of the National Mall where we could enter the various Smithsonian Museums at leisure.

Arlington Cemetry & the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum were two of the most humbling experiences during our trip.

Our absolute favourite activity was hiring a couple of scooters where we rode up and down the National Mall once again, this time stopping off at the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool as well as the White House for a few photo opportunities! We also managed to squeeze in an inside tour of Capitol Hill as well as a quick visit to the Spy Museum and ended our journey at Union Station for our rail trip up to New York.

The Historical Buildings & Memorial sights of Washington DC are nothing short of impressive, I feel that there is still so much more to experience and cannot wait for our second visit!
