Day 1 Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Full Day Itinerary: Once you've settled into your accommodation in Rio de Janeiro, the rest of the day is free to explore some of our favorite local spots. Stroll along the long boulevards next to the beaches of Ipanema, Leblon and of course Copacabana while humming the song, Girl from Ipanema'. Along the way you'll find plenty of huts selling delicious freshly squeezed juices and coconuts which will refresh you as you soak up the breathtaking cityscape of Rio de Janeiro and realize why the city is known as, The Marvelous City'! Relax and watch the sunset at the beach before going out for dinner at one of the restaurants along the promenade. We recommend trying one of Brazil's most famous and traditional dishes, feijoada carioca (stew of beans with beef and pork served with white rice and farofa) washed down with a refreshing caipirinha cocktail or a local beer Brahma and Skol are our favorites! Following dinner you can go back to your hotel to relax or go to one of the local samba bars to dance the night away!

Day 2 The Best of Rio de Janeiro

Full Day Itinerary: This morning your group guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to explore Rio's main landmarks. Your local, friendly and knowledgeable group guide will fill you in with all the history, facts and figures about Rio's highlights as well as provide some insiders' tips on where to go and what to see during the rest of your time in Rio. Departing from your hotel, this tour will take you to visit Rio's main landmarks. Entering through the Tijuca National Park, the world's largest urban forest, you'll arrive at the top of Corcovado Mountain where the statue of Christ the Redeemer stands. Enjoy eye-catching views of the forest below and where Rio de Janeiro's mountains dive into the clear blue water. The view from Corcovado and at the base of the 124 ft. tall Christ the Redeemer Statue is simply stunning. Afterwards you will go on an interesting walking tour in the heart of the historical center of Rio, passing by old colonial buildings and charming cobblestone alleys. You'll then head to the famous natural landmark of Sugarloaf Mountain where you will take a cable car up to the summit. From the top of Sugarloaf you'll be able to enjoy stunning 360-degree views across the sprawling city below, Guanabara Bay, Copacabana Beach and up to Christ the Redeemer Statue. Following the tour and returning to your hotel or heading straight for the beach, the rest of the afternoon is free to spend at leisure. Tonight keep to the beachside restaurants and feast on a long list of salgadinhos (finger food) such as fried cod cakes, all washed down with a nice cold caipirinha becareful though, their sweet and smooth taste packs quite a punch, so drink them with caution! Day 3 To the Pantanal Wetlands

Full Day Itinerary: It's time to hit the road again as you make your way to Campo Grande. As each lodge offers a different variety of activities set amidst a unique backdrop, your three days spent enjoying the Pantanal will be planned daily with the assistance of each lodge's expert guides. The following is an example itinerary and just a taste of the wonders that are waiting for you in the Pantanal. Having settled in to your accommodation, put on your hiking boots and dive straight into the action as you head out to explore the forests of the Pantanal. Ten times larger than the Florida Everglades and a similar size to the country of Portugal, your expert nature guide will be there to take you to the best spots on this introductory ecological trail in the Pantanal. With the help of your guide you'll be able to spot a vast array of animals, such as capuchin monkeys and deer, while learning all about the magnificent flora and fauna of the region. After returning to the lodge you can take a gentle afternoon canoe trip across the wetlands to explore the aquatic life of the wetlands. There are around 260 different species of fish in the Pantanal and their abundance provides food for alligators and birds, making the area a prime bird-watching destination. You'll see flocks of colorful parakeets and parrots as well as eagles, hawks and toucans. You may also spot the rare and beautiful hyacinth macaw. Arriving back at your lodge in time for dinner after an action packed first day, spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet of the wetlands around your lodge. Day 4 Exploring the Pantanal

At a glance: *** Activities may vary upon the selected lodge. *** - Saddle up for a horseback ride through the Pantanal. - Careful of your fingers as you go fishing for piranha! - Watch huge alligators enjoy their lunch. Full Day Itinerary: After breakfast, today's all about exploring even more of this spectacular natural habitat. The personnel at your lodge will be available to provide recommendations that will also take into account seasonal variations for both the wildlife and conditions. During the wet season, you can go horseback riding through the floodplains and forests of the Pantanal. The savannah and the flooded plains of this area make for a beautiful landscape, and the open spaces are perfect for unobstructed views of an array of creatures. With the biggest concentration of large animals in the New World, you'll have to keep an eye out for giant anteaters, tapirs, capybaras, deer and armadillos. Anacondas and giant otters can be spotted occasionally in the area and alligators are also visible during the daytime, lazing in the sun on the banks of the rivers and lakes. Arriving back at the lodge for lunch and having freshened up, there's plenty more to experience in this vast wetland. We recommend taking a tour of the Pantanal's Ecological Refuge where you can watch the feeding frenzy of alligators as they go in search of their lunch. During the dry season you'll be able to observe birds trying to compete for the few remaining fish in the wetlands. It's then time for a spot of fishing with a difference. Today's catch of the day is piranha! Despite their man-eating reputation, these toothy fish usually feast on fallen fruit instead of people but you should definitely stay in the boat and keep your arms and legs well inside the boat. Day 5 Flight to the Falls

Full Day Itinerary: Today we suggest an early rise to experience the sunrise in the Pantanal where you'll be greeted by the diverse calls of birds as well as a beautiful view as the sky turns from indigo to gold to clear blue. Upon arrival to Foz do Iguacu's Airport, you'll dive straight to the hotel here you will be able to relax. Included: Transfer back to airport in Campo Grande; private transfer from airport to hotel in Iguazu; accommodation in Foz do Iguacu. (Meals - B)

Day 6 Argentinean side of Iguazu

Full Day Itinerary: Today is the day you've been waiting for as you travel just 18.6 miles (30km) from the town of Foz do Iguacu to the Tancredo Neves Bridge where you'll cross over the Iguacu River and arrive at Argentina's National Park of Iguazu. Climbing aboard a small train your first stop will be the ominously named Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) which standing at over 262ft. is the biggest waterfall of Iguazu. Having soaked up the enormity of the Devil's Throat your guide will take you along the wooden walkways and trails of both the upper and lower circuit. With over 270 separate waterfalls and surrounded by the verdant jungle of Iguazu, exploring the Natural World Wonder of Iguazu is one of the most unforgettable moments. You'll notice that the various trails that take you through the jungle, above and around waterfalls are built a few feet above the jungle floor and waterways. These raised platforms not only protect the natural habitat of the jungle wildlife but they will also take you to secluded viewpoints offering unimaginable views across the whole National Park. After a full day exploring Argentina's side of Iguazu Falls, it's time to cross back over the border as your transfer takes you back to your accommodation in Foz do Iguaçu where the rest of your evening is free to spend at your leisure. Day 7 Brazilian side of Iguazu

Day 8 Departure from Iguazu and onto Paraty!

It's time to hit the road again as you make your way to the airport for your flight to Sao Paulo. Your transfer from Sao Paulo to Paraty will be waiting for you to enjoy the drive along the Costa Verde where you'll be able to admire the verdant green jungle-covered mountains that drop directly into the blue ocean. Waterfalls can also be seen tumbling down the sides, while golden stretches of sand appear between the palm trees at the back of the beaches. Situated amid jutting peninsulas and secluded beaches, you'll arrive in the colonial town of Paraty. After arrival your local private guide will pick you up from your accommodation to start the walking tour of Paraty. The town of Paraty is different to most of the other colonial towns as it full of character and originality which dates back to the 18th Century and earned its spot as a Historic National Monument and as a UNESCO Heritage site. Considered one of the world's most important examples of colonial architecture, your knowledgeable guide will take you through the narrow cobbled streets while telling you about the legends and history from the last century. Stopping along the way as several intricately decorated churches, the museum, and some of the old and beautifully restored houses. There is an entrance fee for visiting the churches and the Cultural Center which is not included in this excursion. Throughout the tour you'll be happily snapping away and taking videos of this historic, living and breathing museum and at the end of the excursion, your guide will drop you off at your hotel. Day 10 Tropical island retreat

Full Day itinerary: Today, you'll be transferred to the port in Angra dos Reisi, a few hours' drive along the Green Coast of Rio de Janeiro. The Costa Verde is perhaps one of Brazil's most spectacular stretches of coastline, and the smooth ferry journey to Ilha Grande gives you time to appreciate the magnificent scenery. You'll arrive at the main village of Vila do Abraao which stretches quietly along the coast of Ilha Grande. As cars are prohibited on the island to preserve its pristine nature and beauty, you will walk to your hotel on foot. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the beautiful beaches close to town, such as Abraaozinho and Crena before watching the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. Alternatively, reserve your place to explore the marine life of Ilha Grande, snorkeling amongst the tropical fish, sea turtles and coral of the lagoons or scuba diving in the crystal clear waters to discover the many shipwrecks that lie off the coast of the Island. You could also enjoy the beauty of Ilha Grande on your own relaxing on one of its many beaches or strolling through its charming center and beachside cafes, bars and restaurants.
