Welcome to my web page! Welkom by my web bladsy!
My name is Ronel and I am a personal Travel Counsellor, based in the Strand – Helderberg.
I have been in the travel industry for 44 years and I specialise in both leisure and corporate travel as well as in group travel. My clients are from all over the country as well as abroad and I speak both English and Afrikaans.
My career in the travel industry started at a travel agency in Stellenbosch in 1980; thereafter I worked in the Strand as a senior travel consultant and later as Branch Manager until 2006, when I then decided to become an independent travel agent.
During the years I have done many fares courses; Galileo, BSP, IATA/UFTAA as well as extensive training on Travel Counsellors intranet & Phenix booking systems.
I joined Travel Counsellors so that I could grow my leisure and corporate business. I can offer my clients the best service with the professional backing and support from Travel Counsellors Head Office. We are a member of IATA & ASATA and we are BEE accredited. Another added benefit of booking with me is our Travel Counsellors Financial Protection plan that protects all my clients’ money against supplier defaults. We have over 2000 TCs in 6 countries which gives me access to their combined support and local knowledge and experience 24 hours a day.
My years in the travel industry have given me many travel opportunities, and I have visited countries and cities in South Africa, Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands, UK & Europe, North and South America, Far East and Australia and Cruising. My Travel Highlights include… white river rafting down the Zambezi, skiing in Italy, and stepping onboard the Concorde (it was only to do an inspection visit on the ground), cruising Greece & Turkey, Phi Phi Island in Thailand, meeting Mickey and Minnie Mouse at Disney Orlando as well as SeaWorld, San Diego and many many more…
Achievements with Travel Counsellors include - Winner Best New Starter 2010 presented at Travel Counsellors South African Conference at Sun City May 2010. Achieved GOLD status in September 2011. Nominations - Best Sales 2010/11 South African Conference at The One&Only Hotel Cape Town, Best Month 2011/12 and Best TC 2011/12 at South African Conference in Mauritius and more nominations since.

Claire and I jetted off to Victoria Falls on 30 October 2017 with SA Airlink. We were met on arrival and taken to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge where we spent 1 night. It is a lovely hotel, and I recommend this for couples and families. The property has lots of stairs so not recommended for elderly clients. This hotel has three room types, Lodge Standard rooms, Lodge Waterhole facing rooms and Lodge Waterhole facing suites. At 1 pm daily hotel guest can see the Vulture Culture Experience where the vultures are fed the leftover meat scraps from the restaurant. In the late afternoon we were taken on a Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi Royal, were we got to see crocodiles on the river bank, elephants crossing the river, whilst we enjoyed drinks and snacks onboard as the African sun set! We visited the Boma later that evening where we enjoyed Dinner and Drum show in the evening. We got to experience a helicopter trip over the Falls which was amazing! You will be able to see from my photo's that each one tells their own story. This should be a ‘must do’ if you visit Vic Falls. We then spend a few nights at the Elephant Camp where we were welcomed by Thulani and Himal Mathoo, the Manager. We stayed at The Elephant Camp West which caters for smaller groups and families. We stayed in beautiful luxury tented suites with our own deck with a private plunge pool. This property is highly recommendable for couples, honeymooners, families etc. We were taken on a safari drive and enjoyed cocktails and canapes at Batoka Gorge, where we joined in for the Elephant interaction and met Sylvester the Cheetah! Sadly that wsa the end of our trip and we were transferred back to Victoria Falls International Airport for our flight back to SA. It was a stunning 2-night trip to Vic Falls - jam packed and memories that will last a lifetime were made! #TcExperience #VicFallsSafariLodge #TheElephantCamp Please contact me for more info and I would love to help you plan your trip.

Our group of 8 accompanied by Frans of World Leisure Holidays (WLH) departed to Mauritius on 21 July 2012 for 6 days - what a stunning educational with world class hotels and resorts on this island! We stayed and visited the following hotels: * La Pirogue Hotel - (overnight) Located on the West Coast of Mauritius, running along one of the island’s finest beaches. La Pirogue is set in the midst of a vast, luxuriant tropical garden. Close to Flic-en-Flac, the architecture has been inspired by the sea and a fishing village atmosphere, from fishing boats, from where the hotel takes its name, to the main building inspired by white sails floating in the wind and to the chalets built in local style with volcanic rock and decked with wood and thatch. * Sugar Beach Hotel - (overnight) Sugar Beach is on the leeward West Coast of Mauritius The buildings comprise of the central reception, the Manor House and 16 villas - ten with 12 rooms each and six with 10 rooms each. Guests have access to the facilities at La Pirogue (within walking distance). * Veranda Pointe aux Biches - (inspection) It has: - A Barefoot concept - 115 Rooms including 44 ‘Family’ rooms with separate children’s room, 30 ‘Privilege’ rooms located in a more intimate wing for couples - 2 Restaurants and 2 bars opening onto the lagoon - 3 Swimming pools including 1 kid’s pool - 1 Seven Colours Wellness Lounge located on the beach - 1 ‘Timomo & Friends’ kids club - It's ideally located a few miles from the bustling village of Grand Baie (free shuttle service available) * Veranda Grand Baie – (inspection) - 94 Refined rooms inspired by the Creole art of living - 2 Restaurants & 1 bar overlooking the beautiful bay of Grand Bay - 1 ‘Timomo & Friends’ kids club - 1 Seven Colours Wellness Spa with vichy shower, and hammam - 1 Floodlit tennis court - 1 Conference room - Entirely refurbished in 2010 - Situated in the heart of the seaside resort of the island * Veranda Paul & Virginie – (inspection) - 81 Rooms all facing the Indian Ocean - Located in the charming fishing village of Grand Gaube - 2 Restaurants and 2 bars with magnificent views over the lagoon - 2 Swimming pools - Love nests, double sun beds and hammocks - Intimate wedding gazebo overlooking the lagoon - 1 Seven Colours Wellness Spa - 1 Floodlit tennis court - 1 Conference room - HACCP certified *One&Only Le Saint Géran - (overnight) One&Only Le Saint Géran was the first international, resort-style, 5-Star Hotel in Mauritius and it opened in 1975. Incomparable and distinguished, One&Only Le Saint Géran is nestled peacefully in the silver white sands of its own private peninsula. Extensively remodelled in 1999, the resort’s friendly calm and easy luxury is complemented by service that is attentive, yet unobtrusive. Spacious suites with a terrace or balcony face out privately to the Indian Ocean. * Veranda Palmar - (inspection) - 76 Rooms decorated in a warm and natural style - 2 Restaurants - one on the beach and 2 bars - 1 Seven Colours Wellness Lounge with a sauna - 1 ‘Timomo & Friends’ kids club - A wide range of water-sports - All-inclusive formula - A magnificent white sandy beach with an amazing view of the sun rising * Long Beach - (overnight) The focus of this resort’s layout and its life is the urban-style piazza with restaurants, shops and bars. Architecture brings tropical interpretations to contemporary urban themes, softened by natural forms, local detailing and materials. Buildings integrate with the resorts extensive lush tropical gardens. A unique architectural feature is the adjustable “wind breaks” that modulate the offshore breezes. * Le Touessrok Hotel - (overnight) World-renowned luxury five Star resort in Mauritius, Le Touessrok is one of the world’s great romantic resorts and is one of the “Leading hotels of the World”. This majestic resort lies on a beautiful stretch of sandy coast, with magnificent views of the tranquil Trou d’Eau Douce Bay. Out in the lagoon are two beautiful islands; Ilot Mangénie and Ile aux Cerfs, home to the resort’s 18-hole championship golf course, it is one of the best in Mauritius! It has 5 restaurants, a renowned Givenchy Spa and offers a personal butler service. A highlight of the trip was a Catamaran cruise with barbecue lunch to L'ile aux Cerfs.
