Our annual Travel Counsellors conference for 2012 was held in Mauritius from 17 - 20 May 2012. This was announced to all SA travel counsellors December 2011 and we were all looking forward to this event!

Well the day finally came and we flew on SAA that arrived at 16h40 on the Thursday afternoon. Beachcomber Tour Operators - Shandrani Hotel in the south west coast of the island. This hotel is situated +- 10 minutes drive from the airport which is very convenient.

Our stay was based on a fully inclusive basis which means that all drinks and meals were included as well as cocktails, champagne and the mini bar in your room. This is certainly “a must” when visiting Mauritius as you will have no worries about the bill at the end of your stay! Meals and drinks are quite expensive if not included in your package.

Our first night was held at the Wellness Centre at the Shandrani Hotel. It was great catching up with friends and colleagues of the Travel Counsellors family. The next day we had our conference sessions and were really motivated for the year to come with talks from our MD, David Speakman, CEO, Steve Byrne and sales director Malcolm Hingley that visited us from the UK.

Our awards evening was an “all white dress evening” where we recognised all the Travel Counsellors who had performed well during the past year.

On the Saturday we had a hotel inspection at a new hotel on the east coast called Long Beach. This is truly a magnificent 5 Star hotel that has all the new features and has a taste of something totally different to the normal hotels. We ate great food at the 5 different restaurants and met the hotel resident manager, Stephane, who was a gracious host.

We ended our conference with a pirate party at the Shandrani hotel's beach where everyone dressed up. Mark Haze, our local Pop Idol, also entertained us with a wonderful show where-after we danced the night away!
