What a lovely little place. This was the second time I visited Morgan Bay and I really enjoyed it. It is right on the beach not far from the Kei River mouth and about an hour’s drive from East London. It has breathtaking views, unspoiled beaches, awesome cliffs, meandering rivers and tranquil lagoons.

It has a lovely sandy beach with a lagoon and swimming area. There is also a rocky area which is great for the kids to collect shells and fish. The weather in April was lovely. Nice and warm on the beach during the day but not too hot. The evenings were cooler but not too cold.

Often our evenings were spent at the Kranzes nearby where we went to have sundowners and watch the sunset and the moon rising.

There is a hotel right on the beach where one can get good pub lunches either on the deck overlooking the sea or in the actual pub. Another good use we found for the pub was to go and watch rugby each Saturday as the Sharks were playing and we didn’t want to miss watching our team!

There is a caravan park overlooking the lagoon. It is a great location and couldn’t be closer to the beach. Highly recommended for those who enjoy camping.

I would strongly recommend that one takes everything you may need with you as there is only one little “Top Shop” and a bottle store to get supplies. The milk and bread are fresh daily. Otherwise take everything else with you.

We found a delightful little tea garden nearby called “Yellowwood”. It is under some pretty trees and is great for fresh pizzas straight from the wood fired oven. There is a fantastic play area for kids with tree houses etc to keep them occupied if they want a change from the beach. It’s also a nice place for Mom and Dad to relax while the kids are occupied.

Close by is Double Mouth. It is pretty and rugged and has a great beach to visit if you like fishing and shell collecting. You could wonder down to “Treasure Beach” in search of the prized Carnelian Beads or shards of Ming china washed ashore from the Santo Espiritu shipwreck of the 1600's.

Morgan Bay is a great place for a family holiday if you want to relax and get away from it all.
