Travel Agent Fish Hoek

Being a very enthusiastic Scuba Diver, I booked a holiday for a two week Catamaran dive around Madagascar. I flew with Air Madagascar from Johannesburg into Antananariva, and changed planes to travel to the Northern Tip of the island, to a village called Hellville. I was met at the airport late at night and then transferred onto my 6 person Catamaran.

I was a single person travelling alone and I was joined by 5 other French only speaking divers, which set me up for a very interesting holiday.

The Catamaran was beautiful and very well appointed, with living conditions very cramped below. We spent most of our days on deck, relaxing before dives and after dives - our skipper was a very experienced diver and made sure that we got two dives per day. A highlight of the trip was being able to snorkel / dive with a very large Whale Shark.

I was not overly impressed by my fellow French divers, they were determined to drag us down to below 40 meters and on one dive due to the depth of the dive and our too fast assent, I did some serious damage to my ear drums, but the whole experience has lasted with me and it is something that was truly unforgettable.

The return flight involved a stopover in Antananariva, which was crazy and chaotic and a bit scary for a single woman, but I was well looked after and swiftly transferred to the Airport to be put on the last flight back to Johannesburg before the country ran out of aviation fuel.

All in all it was an experience that I will never forget.
