Phinda Private Game Reserve
Thursday 22nd April 2010

South Africa is a beautiful country and we are very blessed to be living here. I have a weakness for Game Reserves, they are to me the perfect holiday, watching the sun set over the African plains and I always hear the song by Toto in the back ground.
My Husband and I were offered a fantastic deal to visit the Phinda Private Game Reserve in Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal for 2 nights, so we eagerly took up the opportunity and we flew into Durban and hired a car and drove the 4 hours to Phinda Game Reserve. We were greeted on arrival at the main gate with a cool drink and the car was taken away to be parked and looked after while we were in the Game Reserve.
We were booked into the 5 Star deluxe Mountain Lodge, and it was truly magnificent, with our room like an eagles nest overlooking the valley below. The rooms were really luxurious, and the bathroom and shower is in a glassed in area, to give you full 360 degree views of the valley below while you are in there - it is wonderful.
We went on two game drives each day, and we spotted each of the big 5. They were spotted with an almost animal on demand system, if you wanted to see Leopards - you just asked the guide and he would drive you straight there.
I also got the chance to see the other 4 lodges in Phinda and each one is unique and special taking in the natural surroundings and turning each of them into a Luxurious Game Experience.
The food was wonderful and plentiful and our last night ended with Dinner in the Boma where local dancers kept us entertained.
The next morning our car was returned to us washed and ready for our drive home.
Phinda is an experience which took my breath away and is definitely not to be missed.
