Beautiful Lake District

My Husband is from Leeds in the United Kingdom and on one trip to see his family in the UK; we decided to hire a car and to visit the Lake District which is only about 2 hours drive from his Family’s Home.

March/April is a great time to visit the UK. We experienced some late snow but spring was definitely in the air with the fields filled with sheep and lambs, and the wild flowers coming into show everywhere.

We made Grasmere our base. It is a wonderfully quaint little English Village, were Wordsmith was born and grew up, with loads of charming cobbled streets and little houses, it was perfect and romantic.

It is also a great base to begin most of the walks in this area, as that is what you do in the Lake District, lots of walks to the top of very high hills to see the lakes below.

My Husband dragged me up kicking and crying to the very top of the second highest mountain in England, Helvellan, (I have the photo to prove it) and the view were great, although the hike was very scary.

The Lake District is not all about hiking, although there are some wonderful pubs dotted around and we really spoilt ourselves. I enjoyed a very memorable Rabbit in Chocolate Sauce in one pub and some wonderful local cheese called Wensleydale in another.

But most importantly it gave my Husband and I the most wonderful memories and we will definitely be going back, as I am sure that the village of Grasmere has not changed one bit and is still exactly like it was when we visited last.
