Trinidad & Tobago - An island of pristine beauty with excellent beaches, untouched rainforests, world-class diving & snorkelling, a birding paradise, fantastic sunsets and best of all friendly and very helpful people willing to share their country and knowledge with visitors.
There's a wide choice when it comes to accommodation offering superb hotels. Turtle Beach offers a unique experience from March to July when giant leatherback turtles lay their eggs. Le Grand Courlan, Stonehaven Villa’s boasts; their own swimming pools, free airport transfers, a hot meal on arrival plus a Housekeeper! Holistic’s are catered for at the Kariwak Village. This is definitely not your usual overcrowded touristy island but a genuine unspoilt Caribbean Gem!
We enjoy many guided tours as well as a walk into the main Ridge Forest Reserve, North of Tobago. Some of these tours included; the Scarborough City Tour, the Waterfall Tour, Island Tour, Sun Fun Tour as well as a glass bottom boat ride to the Buccoo Reef which includes a swim in the Nylon Pool (legend has it - that a swim in the Nylon Pool will take 10 years off your age!). We enjoyed a Beach BBQ at No Man’s Land. We were accompanied by our knowledgeable guide to the Argyle Falls, which is a 15 minute walk and definitely worthwhile. Our guide pointed out the flora in the surrounding area. At the Argyle Falls we enjoyed a refreshing dip in the cool waters. We enjoyed a very delectable lunch at Jemma's Tree House Restaurant, right on the bay with a lovely view of Little Tobago Island which is not too far off in the distance.
We went across to Trinidad on Caribbean Airlines (this is an easy 20 minute commute) and we enjoyed a brief tour of the Port of Spain. We visited the Asa Wright Nature Centre which is part of the Arima Valley, as well as the Caroni Wetlands by boat where we spotted one of the national birds - the Scarlet Ibis. The Scarlet Ibis returns to roost at sunset in a spectacular blaze of red colour.
On our last full day we explored the very scenic Caribbean coastline on the "Island Girl" Catamaran – what an exhilarating experience that was! The friendly crew worked together as an excellent team to ensure a day of total relaxation. They presented us with a delicious lunch onboard, whilst we spent hours swimming and snorkelling (equipment supplied)
Trinidad & Tobago - This is a definite must visit destination!
