Tamassa - Family Hotel

From the minute you enter Tamassa you are drawn into a party mode with its vibrant and contemporary colours and layout.

The resort is located in the South West part of the island, about a 30 - 45 minute drive from the airport.

The staff are excellent from the management all the way to the cleaning crew and they go out of their way to ensure you are having an absolutely amazing time.

It is definitely a family hotel with amazing activities for young and old alike. With a fantastic kiddies and teens club on the resort which is open from 9am to late, you will have the time to go for the much deserved spa treatment, or to have a quiet dinner in the Playa Restaurant. The children will find many activities to keep them busy in the clubs but the resort also arranges other outings such as crab hunting, cycling, tennis...

There are also daily activities arranged for the adults such as volleyball on the beach, aqua aerobics, cycling trips and of course the spa.

The boathouse also offers a range of activities and daily excursions (obviously dependent on weather) and most non-motorised water-sports are free of charge.

The spa is heavenly and definitely an area of the hotel that cannot be missed.

Rooms:
All rooms are sea-facing. They only allow 1 child per room and this is understandable as it could be a bit cramped if there is more than 1 child sharing with 2 adults. All rooms also have complimentary WI-FI access which is a real bonus to upload photos of your holiday to send to family.

Meals:
For dinners, breakfast and lunch you have the option of the laid back buffet style of the Show Restaurant. I did find it a bit like a canteen which is fine for breakfast and lunch but a bit too laid back for island dining - unless this is what you prefer and is also great when dining with younger children.

The other restaurant on the property is Playa Restaurant where more finer dining is served. This is available for lunch and dinner. I felt this was more for just adults and as it needs to be booked at least 24 hours beforehand for dinners, I would use this as a night to let the kids eat at the kiddies club and just the adults go for dinner.

The Show Bar is open from 10am to midnight and offers pancakes from 15h00 to 17h00 as well as bar snacks.

The property also boasts a nightclub that is open twice a week - something which is a fairly new concept on this side of the island.

I would definitely recommend taking an all-inclusive package which will include all meals, drinks and snacks. The items which carry a supplement charge are Champagne etc. and this is clearly marked in all their menus. It can work out quite costly even if you are just drinking cold drinks or water all day as you are paying 110 rupees for a coke which is currently approximate R32.00. And why should you not be able to enjoy the pancakes at 15h00 - if you don't take the all-inclusive you will be left out of this very tasty treat.

Another treat is an excursion to the private island of Ile Deux Cocos which is must when visiting Mauritius and is only available to clients staying at Naiade resorts.

Weddings are amazing at the resort and the staff are on call to assist with all arrangements - no matter how big or small.

Tamassa is definitely a must for families with young children or teenagers, young adults looking for a great getaway but still are able to party the night away as well as for honeymooners and wedding couples looking for a vibey atmosphere.
