Mauritius ranks high among our favourite sun destinations. It’s the melting pot of cultures and religions (Hindu, Creole, Muslim, Chinese and Europeans) that makes it so unique and its tranquility that attracts so many South Africans. We love the beaches, stretches of ivory sand along secluded lagoons, perfect for lounging, snorkeling, and afternoon naps. When the mood strikes, you can head to the market and snack on curry dishes and herbal tea, then kayak along the coastline through peaceful lagoons and bays. Or wander through the botanical gardens for its indigenous and exotic plants (like the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies).

 

Take a dream trip to the exclusive Seychelles, perhaps the closest place we have to paradise on earth. Its resorts are nothing short of spectacular with attentive service to match. This is the place to go when you want to be pampered from head to toe, with fantastic dining, luxurious spas, and memorable experiences from chartering a yacht for the day, or enjoying a meal at a table with a perfect view of the sunset. The beaches of Bali and the Maldives also beckon to diving enthusiasts who transport themselves into an undersea world, full of beauty, wildlife and serenity. While Thailand is a treasure for those who enjoy different cultural adventures, shopping and wonderful beaches.

 

Not to worry if you don’t have much time to devote to your holiday. Close to home, Mozambique is terrific value for your money, with ample attractions, hotels and resorts to experience. But watch out for Zanzibar. It has become popular as well because of its affordability and its ability to give visitors a first-rate holiday.
